Many pedophiles who are abusive want children to be something, meaning literally project something onto a child.
What do I project onto children? Their hot look, with everything that is themselves and their personality poking out. I want them to be themselves, be within eyeshot, and be safe from abusive parents.

Abuse is when the child doesn't want that kind of attention. Ex. "I know why you want my attention", all in one look.
