Honor parents: Understanding the Fifth Commandment in context

Many parents feel entitled to respect from their children. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. Most American parents want to be honored, without doing anything to earn honor from their children. The fact of the matter is that honor for parents, with few exceptions, is something to earn from children.

The Fifth Commandment reads in Exodus 20:12 KJV:

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee.

The commandment to honor parents basically means don't dishonor your parents, as specified elsewhere in the Law. That basically means don't strike or physically attack your parents (see also Exod. 21:15), don't curse your parents with airborne gaslighting (see also Lev. 20:9), and don't commit moral crimes while blaming parents (see also Deut. 21:18-21). Apart from those narrow protections, parents need to earn honor from their children. It is acceptable to shun your parents if they were abusive towards you.

The best way to understand the Fifth Commandment in the context of childhood is the commandment not to strike out at your parents. Children can use their parents for pretty much anything that the child wants, with parents being hired bondservants called to serve their children. But, parents shouldn't encourage children striking out at them. When children strike out at you as the parent, you should get out the acronym of righteous wailing. Parents should cry out loud when their children strike out at them. You may find that your child just wants to be heard, and doesn't take advantage of tears. However, children should not be encouraged to strike out at their parents.

The Fifth Commandment is repeated in Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and submission of parents. This word ultimately refers to a secure attachment between parents and children in the family home. This secure attachment comes from parent submission, where parents are to submit to their children just as they would to God, from beneath yet from above, expecting absolutely nothing in return. See also Matt. 22:35-40; 25:31-46.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to damages or offenses, namely the slightest of personal offense perceived by a child, including, but not limited to, the slightest of offensive touch or speech perceived by a child, stemming from entitlement. This commandment was intended by the Apostle Paul, and was understood in its original context, as a moral statute prohibiting all forms of punitive parenting, including, but not limited to, any punishments, reprimands, or other controlling demeanor towards children. In the Old Testament, punitive parents were put to death by way of bloodletting, after punishing their children one last time. The parents who punished their children were charged with kidnapping, with "kidnapping" being defined under the Law as the slightest of damages or offenses stemming from hostage-taking - child punishment was seen in biblical times as holding your child hostage merely for things that they did wrong, thereby treating youe child as a quartered slave. Paul here was lifting up the Law in order to convict a group of Greek Christian parents who brought their pagan custom of spanking and punishing children into the church. Paul, contrary to popular legend, was anti-spanking, and opposed any and all punishment of a child in his secular writings. Paul may not have gotten along with the women of the church, but he sure loved children, and even took in a few orphaned children during his time as a deacon.

Respect for parents was a thing in biblical times. However, respect for children meant closeness to parents, not fear of parents. For the first 6 years of childhood, children were in constant closeness to mothers, meaning that wherever mothers went, so did her child. For the first 2 years of childhood, children were constantly held by mothers, either in her loving arms, or on mom's back in a papoose bag. Between ages 2-6, children ranged next to mothers, following mom from room to room, not allowing mom out of their line of sight, morbidly fearing that mom would "go away and never come back". Whenever children cried, mothers cooed at children before picking them up, and then from there, she diagnosed the child's needs and met them. Maybe the child was tired. Maybe the child was hungry. Maybe the child needed mom's milk. Maybe the child needed mom, period. When mothers and children under age 6 were out and about, mothers wrapped up children next to her bosom in swaddling blankets, with the swaddling blankets - and the child with them - being tucked underneath the loose-fitting, revealing dress worn by mothers that resembled an apron. Come nightfall, children co-slept next to mothers in skin-on-skin format, with this skin-on-skin co-sleeping warmth happening every night, until the onset of puberty, which is when children wanted their own place to sleep. Children in biblical times went naked wherever they went, with mothers also going naked within the confines of the family home/ This birth nudity setup helped facilitate easy skin-on-skin sustaining warmth, with skin-on-skin friction happening every time a child was picked up.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke their children to anger through punitive parenting will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them be cast forever into the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the abyss which is the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath day and night forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Passing down the faith: How to properly instruct your child in the Lord (without punishment or force)

Many parents want their children to have some religion. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. Most American parents, however, believe in breaking the will of a child in order to instruct them in the Christian faith. However, there is a better way to instruct your child in the Christian faith, meaning without punishment or force.

Passing down the faith is part of the Christian doctrine of mutual submission. See Ephesians 6:1-4 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and submission of parents. This word ultimately refers to a secure attachment between parents and children in the family home. This secure attachment comes from parent submission, where parents are to submit to children just as they would to God, from beneath yet from above, expecting absolutely nothing in return. See also Matt: 22:35-40; 25:31-46.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to wrath" is παροργίζο (Latin: parorgizo) and refers to damages or offenses, namely the slightest of personal offense perceived by a child, including, but not limited to, the slightest of offensive touch or speech perceived by a child, stemming from entitlement. This commandment was intended by the Apostle Paul, and was understood in its original context, as a moral statute prohibiting all forms of punitive parenting, including. but not limited to, any punishments, reprimands, or other controlling demeanor towards a child. In the Old Testament, punitive parents were put to death by way of bloodletting, after punishing their children one last time. The parents who punished their children were charged with kidnapping, with kidnapping being defined as the slightest of damages or offenses stemming from hostage-taking - child punishment was seen in biblical times as holding their children hostage merely for things that they did wrong, thereby treating your child as a quartered slave. Paul here was lifting up the Law in order to convict a group of Greek Christian parents in the parish at Ephesus who brought their pagan custom of spanking and punishing children into the church. Paul, contrary to popular legend, was anti-spanking, and opposed any and all punishment of a child in his secular writings. Paul may not have gotten along with the women of the church, but he sure loved children, and even took in a few orphaned children during his time as a deacon.

The Greek root word translated "nurture" is παιδεία (Latin: paideia) and refers to here, in this context, modeling and encouraging Christian discipline in children. The Christian standard of discipline is deserving of absolutely nothing, therefore grateful for absolutely everything, coming from a sinful nature, leading to a chastened up example for children to follow. Christian parents in the Early Church centered their entitlement in view of their children, with children then following in their parents' footsteps. Children in biblical times were caught being good, as opposed to being caught being bad. Whenever children were caught by fathers showing good traits - such as sharing, being patient, or showing self-control - they were given lavish praise and encouragement with statements such as "keep headed down the straight path". Boys were given manly praise when caught being good by fathers, whereas girls were given a kiss to the forehead by fathers when caught being good. Children also need religious instruction. The Greek root word translated "admonition" is νουθεσία (Latin: nouthesia) and refers to the instruction of the Lord. Religious instruction started out with fathers leaving out a Bible for children to discover and explore. When children were caught reading the Bible, they were lavishly praised and encouraged with statements such as "that book is good for you". From there, religious instruction came in question and answer format, based off of what children saw in the text. Children were eager to learn the facts of life, with fathers being quick to give pointers on the context.

Religious development is a part of child development, as religion is a human need for children and adults alike. Younger children - past age 6 - develop simplistic religious beliefs non-conforming to any religious denomination or sect. However, as children get older, they start to grow towards a specific religious denomination or sect. It may not be the religion you would choose, but at least they have values.

How do you motivate a child to hear out the instruction of their fathers? How about starting with a secure attachment with mothers? For the first 6 years of childhood, children were in constant closeness to mothers, meaning that wherever the mother went, so did her child. For the first 6 years of childhood, children were constantly held by mothers, either in her loving arms, or on mom's back in a papoose bag when her hands were full. Between ages 2-6, children ranged next to mothers, following her from room to room, not allowing mom out of their line of sight, morbidly fearing that mom would "go away and never come back". Whenever children cried, mothers cooed at their children before picking them up, and from there, she met the need self-advocated by the child. When mothers and children under age 6 were out and about in public, they were wrapped up next to her bosom in swaddling blankets, with the swaddling blankets - and the child with them - being tucked underneath the loose-fitting, revealing dress worn by mothers that resembled an apron. Come nightfall, children co-slept next to mothers in skin-on-skin format, with this skin-on-skin co-sleeping warmth happening every night, until the onset of puberty, which is when most children wanted their own place to sleep. Preventing public meltdowns: How to deal with public meltdowns

Many parents have to deal with it, if not most. Most parents feel the need to punish their children for public outbursts. This punishment is a common reaction to a child kicking and screaming in public. However, children kicking and screaming was nearly unheard of in biblical times. That is because mothers knew to wrap up their young children in swaddling blankets next to her bosom, thus pacifying the tears of the child being swaddled.

Swaddling children, in the Early Church, was understood as part of the Christian doctrine of mutual submission. See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: as is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and submission of parents. This commandment was intended by the Apostle Paul, and was understood in is original context, as a moral statute prohibiting all forms of punitive parenting, including, but not limited to, any punishments, reprimands, or other controlling demeanor towards children. Paul, contrary to popular legend, was anti-spanking, and opposed any and all punishment in his secular writings. Paul may not have gotten along with the women of the church, but he sure loved children, and even took in a few orphaned children during his time as a deacon.

Whenever mothers and children under age 6 were out and about in public, mothers wrapped up the child(ren) next to her bosom in swaddling blankets. From there, the swaddling blankets - and the child(ren) with them - tucked underneath the loose-fitting, revealing dress worn by mothers that resembled an apron. The swaddling blankets were tied from the left breast, then across the dot to the right leg, or vice versa, or both in the case of twins. Whenever children cried while swaddled, their cries were pacified. From there, mothers held their children closer to her bosom while cooing, perhaps allowing the child to suckle her teat if the child was still milk-dependent. These swaddling blankets were made of velvet, with velvet being grown throughout the Ancient Middle East.

Cooing from mothers was a primal vocalization that put children at ease. Whenever children cried in public, mothers cooed at their children before picking them up, or holding them closer if they were wrapped up in swaddling blankets. Cooing from mothers helped children feel heard when they cried in public.

Much of the time, children cry in public when they want something. In the Early Church, children got most all of what they wanted, and absolutely all of what they needed. In most cases, mothers in biblical times got children what they wanted at market, including any sweet treats that were on the market shelf. Sometimes, children wanted a pet lamb for sale at the market. Mothers obliged, without slaughtering the child's pet lamb later. Usually, children communicated what they wanted through pacified tears and pointing to the item that they wanted, with mom getting the item off the shelf for her child. Parents only said "no" when the orders from children were unsafe, unworkable, and/or immoral. An example of when mothers said "no" is when children wanted expensive jewelry - modesty in the Bible meant not making a fashion statement, with things such as public nudity instead being known as indecency when nudity happened outside of proper channels - children went naked wherever they went, including in public.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke their children to anger though punitive parenting will not inherit the Kingdom of God!

Original sin: How to bring your child up in the doctrine of original sin

The doctrine of original sin is the most misused of Christian teachings. Yet, original sin is the backbone of Christianity. Without original sin, there would be no reason for a Christ. It is a myth that you have to break the will of a child in order to teach them about original sin. Children are sinners, but so are us as adults.

We as human beings are a fallen species, and are deserving of nothing but DEATH and PUNISHMENT merely for existing in relation to God. Only a few people are saved, with the rest headed towards eternal torment. Aren't we all sinners in the hands of an angry God? We as a species have a peacekeeping past that kept children down, and thus we need to atone for our peacekeeping past. See Rom. 3:9-12.

Teaching original sin is part of proper Christian teaching. That teaching takes place in the context of a mutual submission relationship between parent and child. See Ephesians 6:1-4 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

However, as children get older, they start to grow towards a specific religious denomination. It might not be the religion you would choose, but at least they have values.

Original sin is bound to come up in the religious instruction of children, with children asking questions about sin and atonement. At some point, children ask the question "why did they have to kill Jesus?". The right way to answer this question is to say "We all are sinners as human beings, and so we needed a Christ to give His life for us so that we can be forgiven". Most children will gather from that discussion that mankind is born in original sin. Most children won't be scared by that realization. Some children will need extra comfort from fathers in order to fully absorb the fact that they too are sinners.

What motivates a child to hear out the instruction of fathers? Why not start out with a secure attachment with mothers? For the first 6 years of childhood, children were in constant closeness to mothers, meaning that wherever the mother went, so did her child. For the first 2 years of childhood, children were constantly held by mothers, either in her loving arms, or on mom's back in a papoose bag when her hands were full. Why to catch children being good (as opposed to catching them being bad)

Many parents want their children to have discipline. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. However, most parents think that proper discipline involves catching children being bad, and then punishing them. However, proper Christian discipline of children involves catching children being good.

Children grow up almost entirely on their own. Most childhood behaviors that parents feel the need to punish are developmentally appropriate behavior. Most childhood mischief should be met not with punishment or consequences, but laughter, meaning parents should have a good sense of humor for when their children get into mischief. If they draw on the wall, laugh with them, and then clean it up yourself later. When children do something right, praise and encourage them in their good traits.

Catching children being good is a part of the Christian doctrine of mutual submission. See Ephesians 6:1-4 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Pedophilic children: How to bring up your pedophilic child

Many parents worry about their child being sexually abused by "pedophiles". This is a common fear amongst parents. However, most parents don't bank on the possibility of their child being a pedophile themselves. Most parents who have a pedophilic child abuse their child just because they are a pedophile, usually in the form of sexual shaming abuse.

What is pedophilia? Most people think the word "pedophile" is an abuser's title. This is false entirely. Most pedophilia is a form of autism where the individual with autism focuses on children's issues as a special interest. A pedophile is a person with a primary or exclusive sexual preference for children under age 14. The pedophilic individual's autistic specialty in children reflects their inborn sexual preferences. Pedophilia is a mental health disorder that is genetic in origin, with the genes for pedophilia occurring along the lines of autism. Most pedophiles have "exist" autism, meaning their special interests surround people. If they are a pedophile, their special interests in people center around children.

A pedophile needs an outlet for their unrequited lusts. That outlet comes in the form of righteous masturbation. The Greek root word translated "lust" in the Bible is έπιθυμέω (Latin: epthumeo) and does not refer to just any sexual desire, but to sexual desire leading to an approach. It is okay for a pedophile to look the look, and even think the think later. But, there is a big difference between thinking the think and doing the deed. "Doing the deed" involves any flirting or propositioning of a child, or else any touching of a child anywhere on their body with sexual intent. If your intent is to do the deed with a child, you shouldn't even be approaching them. Approaching can refer to any prior steps leading up to doing the deed with a child. The only way around approaching a child is masturbating to sexual thoughts of said child. A pedophilic child needs room to masturbate to sexual thoughts of much younger children.

I myself am a well-adjusted pedophile. That is because I have a mother that I can talk to about my pedophilia, as well as a therapist to lean on if I need to talk further. Treating a pedophilic child is like allowing your child to unload baggage. It is a one-sided conversation about their attractions to children. When the child is anguished in their pedophilic attractions, that means that they mean well entirely around children. I disclosed like it meant nothing, and then committed a string of moral crimes that made other pedophiles look bad. What I did when I flirted with children was follow them around and wave at them, thus interacting based off of romantic juices. I have offended against children as a pedophilic adult, and thus I need to atone for all the moral crimes I have committed as a pedophilic. Even if my sexual offenses were committed as a child - which they were - I am the adult in that situation, and must atone as an adult. I, however, am blessed to have people that I can talk to about my pedophilia if I need to.

My crushes on children came in the form of train cars, with everyone around me hoping for the caboose. I was an obvious abuser, meaning I abused in plain sight, following around young girls and waving at them in a flirtatious manner. When the child only talks to you as a parent about their pedophilia, they know the boundaries enough that maybe they can cut themselves some slack. I myself cut myself too much slack in the past, and thus I need to atone for my crushes towards children.

Most sexual offenses committed by pedophiles are committed as child-on-child incidents. According to research, 1 in 4 pedophiles have committed a sexual offense. Most of the time, the abuser made it obvious that they are a pedophile, in a way that posed a threat to children. Think the creepy dude that follows a child home from school. Most pedophilic abuse comes in the form of sexual harassment. Most serial child rapists are plain old rapists, not pedophiles. Yes, some individuals are pedophiles, but are they a rapist? That right there is the question you should ask before naming and shaming a pedophile just based on their admission alone.

Why would your child be a pedophile? Pedophiles, in ancient times, were parallel parents towards children, and took in abused and orphaned children. The Apostle Paul himself was a non-contact pedophile of the exclusive variety, and took in many children from abusive homes. The way it worked then was that children were given a choice after their parents were tried and convicted by the council on counts of child abuse - go with parents, or go with pedophiles. In most cases, the child went with pedophiles, and was nursed back to health, many times with the pedophile lactating for the child. Most pedophiles in the Early Church also gave parenting advice by writing parenting manuals reminding new parents of the Judeo-Christian custom of attachment parenting. Contrary to popular belief, pedophiles expected absolutely nothing in return for their child intake, meaning demanding sexual ransom was seen as fornication on the part of the pedophile. Pedophiles were the modern-day equivalent of foster parents or adoptive parents. The Apostle Paul did not get along with women, and that is because all of the women wanted him sexually, and he was not attracted to them at all, with Paul wanting to be around children more than women.

Most pedophiles who have nurturing capacity are male. The most dangerous profile of pedophile is the "daphne". Most female pedophiles who fit the "daphne" profile have no nurturing capacity. The only way they are able to nurture a child is to have sex with them, meaning usually in the form of raping a child. That form of child rape comes in the form of forcing penetration with boys, or fist rape in the case of girls. A "daphne" is not merely a vulnerable woman. They usually do not know how to nurture a child, except maybe if they are also zoophiles. A female pedophile is obvious in terms of features, as they did not ever go through puberty.

Most sexual abusers are not pedophiles. The vast majority of adults committing child sexual abuse are opportunistic abusers given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rape a child. Most adults who sexually abuse children are simply adults who are oppressing children using sexual force. 1 out of 10 children are sexually abused before their 18th birthday. On the other hand, 1-2% of the male population fits the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia. Child sexual abuse is usually committed by an adult who is sexually repressed in relation to children, with those repressed desires coming out sideways in the form of a rape or sexual assault. Usually, the adult has no prior history of committing sex crimes, and does not meet the diagnostic criteria for being a pedophile. Many times, it is a singular incident where the rapist lost control and then attacked the child. But, the sexually entitled adult who rapes or sexually assaults a child could easily have avoided that fate by masturbating to sexual thoughts of children. Thus, presumably all adults are capable of child sexual abuse, under the right/wrong conditions.

The depraved and decadent, defiled adults who rape or sexually assault children will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them descend into torrents of Hell-fire prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Repent!

Righteous ordering: Why parents should heel to their children's commands

Many parents think that their children should obey their command. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. Most American parents think that children should heel to their command. However, the Bible, when understood in context, says that parents are to heel to the command of their children. This setup is known by the acronym righteous ordering.

The concept of righteous ordering is part of the Christian doctrine of mutual submission. See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to a secure, vulnerable rest in the love and submission of parents. This word ultimately refers to a secure attachment between parent and child in the family home. This secure attachment comes from parent submission, where parents are to submit to their children just as they would to God, from beneath yet from above, expecting absolutely nothing in return. See also Matt. 22:35-40.

This commandment was intended by the Apostle Paul, and understood in its original context, as a moral statute prohibiting all forms of punitive parenting, including, but not limited to, any punishments, reprimands, or other controlling demeanor towards children. In the Old Testament, punitive parents were put to death by way of bloodletting, after punishing their children one last time. The parents who punished their children were charged with kidnapping, with "kidnapping" being defined under the Law as the slightest of damages or offenses stemming from hostage-taking - child punishment was seen in biblical times as holding your child ho-stage merely for things that they did wrong, thereby treating your child as a quartered slave.

Parents are to heel to the commands of their children. That means children have the right to order their parents around. In most cases. parents in the Early Church were required by way of customary law to heel to the commands of their children. The only exception was if the child ordered the parents to do something unworkable, unsafe, or immoral. Even then, parents usually came to a compromise with their children before saying "no". When the child was told "no" by parents, the parents were required to reassure and validated the upset that might stem from hearing the word "no".

Parents are to heel to the commands of their children, as their child is an extension of God extended to their doorstep for love and charity. Children are extensions of God, meaning parents are to heel to their children as they would to the commands of God. Children are among the "least of these", and thus whatever you do towards a child, you do towards God. See Matt. 25:31-46.

Children growing up in the Early Church got most all of what they wanted, and absolutely everything that they needed. Children who cried in biblical times were seen as giving a summonses for mothers to rush in and coo at the child, before picking them up and diagnosing the need. Maybe the child was tired. Maybe the child was hungry. Maybe the child needed mom's milk. Maybe the child needed mom, period.

Righteous ordering is like going to a restaurant. You can have it your way, but it has to be on the menu. If an item isn't on the menu anymore, the waitress is kind about it, even if you aren't. Parents are there for children to use for pretty much anything, like a sponge or a milking-cow. Parents are to be treated by their children in an objectifying way, in the form of righteous usage. Being a parent should be like being a waitress at a restaurant. Children give the orders, and parents do their very best to serve their children, waiting on them hand and foot, expecting absolutely nothing in return.

Redefining child abuse: Why the Bible calls for tougher laws on the books protecting children from abuse
