Child marriage: Why God hates child marriages

Many people think that child marriage is a thing of the past. This is a common belief amongst American adults. Most adults believe child marriages have ended. They have not. Every single state in the United States allows for child marriage to some degree.

It says in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 KJV:
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that the your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The Greek root word translated "fornication" is πορνεία (Latin: porneia) and lifts up all of the sex crime laws enumerated in the Law of Moses. One of those laws was that a marriage had to be between same-age peers. Young men had to marry a young woman his age or else older. Also, children under the age of majority, in the jurisdiction that they were in, could not marry at all. In Ancient Israel, the age of consent/marriage was at 12 for females, and 13 for males, corresponding with the age of majority in said jurisdiction. In Ancient Rome, the age of consent/majority was 13, and the Early Church heeded Roman law on that subject. The tradition in the Bible is that the marriageable age be at the age of majority, wherever it may be in a given society. In Ancient Jewish society, including the Early Church, sexual relations were seen as an adult luxury to be enjoyed within a marriage.

God hates child marriage because it is an unlawful use of your body. "Ye are bought with a price", in context, means that we do own our own bodies, but with conditions set by the Lord by way of contract. In the sexual arena, God wants our bodies to be used a certain way, meaning sexual relations must fit within certain narrow perimeters, namely within a lawfully-sanctioned marriage between one adult man and one adult woman. Sex with children will never be acceptable, even if it was accepted once.

The depraved and decadent, defiled fornicators who engage in child marriages, and defile themselves next to a fraudulent bride, will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them burn in torrents of Hell-fire! Repent!
