The age of consent: Why it needs to be raised to 18

Many adults are attracted to children in some capacity. Most adults are attracted to children, usually of the opposite sex, and usually teenagers, to some capacity, with all adults being capable of sexual attraction to children in a given situation. Where should we draw the line, in terms of the age of consent? The fact of the matter is that the age of consent should align with the age of majority, no matter what society or time in history we live in. In the United States, the age of majority is 18. I support no close in age exemptions at all, as children shouldn't be having sex.

It says in 1 Corinthians 6:18 KJV:

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

The Greek root word translated "fornication" is πορνεία (Latin: porneia) and literally translates to "outside of proper channels". Those proper channels include ALL of the sex crime laws in Ancient Israel. In Ancient Israel, sex with anyone under the age of majority, and/or outside of marriage, was seen as a sex crime. This word, in the modern context, means that the age of majority is where the age of consent should be, as the Ancient Jews, including the Early Christians, saw sex as something reserved for adults. The Law then also required that there be some equality in a marriage, meaning an older man could not marry a younger virgin, and had to marry a virgin his age or older.

Today, children become adults at age 18, and so a strict age of consent limit of 18 should be in place. Anyone having sex younger than that age should be called to testify for their sexual behavior once they turn 18, with all their sexual transgressions compiled into a "joke" investigation. Children just should not be having sex.

What is the alternative to a lower age of consent with so many adults attracted to children at some level? In the Early Church, if a parishioner reported an attraction to children, that adult parishioner was told to masturbate to the thoughts of children that they had. The idea is that thoughts of children are an inevitable part of our sin nature as adults, and so allowing yourself to think them in the appropriate context would re-channel those thoughts away from a track towards children, and re-channel those thoughts inward. The Greek root word translated "lust" or "inordinate affection" is επιθυμέω (Latin: epithumeo) and refers not to ordinary sexual desire, but to sexual desire to the point of taking the first steps to approach a child.

Most child sexual abuse occurs when an adult refuses to acknowledge attraction towards a child. The answer isn't to lower the age of consent for them, but simply to have them acknowledge their sexual interest in a child. When you repress anything, it drives you, and thus repressing something as powerful as a sex drive for children is dangerous. It is okay to be attracted to children, and it is normal to struggle with such attractions. Just know that sex with children is out of the question, even in the future context.

Will the age of majority go lower? I am a pedophile myself, meaning I have the disorder, and so I am biased in whether the age of majority will drop off at some point. If it does, it would be due to children's rights initiatives causing children to develop better, and thus reach maturity at puberty. But, advocating attachment parenting just for the sake of wanting sex with individuals under age 18 is not the reason to become a child advocate, so I really don't know if the ages will change, and so I must righteously assume that they will stay the same, and live in the society we live in today.

We as a society were founded on Christian sexual purity values, and those values forbid sex with anyone below a certain age. Those values have been in place since the days of the Early Church. Given the widespread nature of adult attraction to children, we must draw the line somewhere in terms of the age of consent. Sex with children will never be acceptable, even if it becomes accepted by society in the future. We are crossing too many lines as a society as we speak, with social experimentation that creates a permissive attitude towards sexual relations outside of marriage. Men in particular need to get married before they have sex, and need to marry someone their age.

The depraved and decadent, defiled adult fornicators who sexually abuse and hate children will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them BURN in torrents of Hell-fire! Repent!
