Pro-social self-loathing: Why self-esteem is a farce in gentle parenting

There is currently political polarization in this country. The core of this polarization is a cultural divide between broader society, which is religious in nature, and the left, which is anti-religious in nature. Many parents today are now teaching their children self-esteem. I may support many of their parenting choices, if not most, but there is no room at the inn for any self-esteem rhetoric. Self-esteem is not just feeling good about yourself, but feeling good about yourself in a way that puts yourself first.

It says in Romans 3:9-12 KJV:
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved that both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This passage was written to Roman Christians, who were becoming too prideful in their practice of the Christian faith, priding themselves as the righteous ones merely for being Christians. Today, this passage can be seen as a reflection of God's pessimism about human nature. There is not one human being that is righteous, as God hates us all, merely for existing in relation to him, with mankind deserving of DEATH and PUNISHMENT merely for existing in relation to God. God will punish His creation on their last day, and destroy this sinful world on the very last day. Only a few will be rewarded as the Saints. God especially hates the one-sided adult incursion onto child-kind by adult-kind, in which case He wishes DEATH and PUNISHMENT onto the depraved and decadent adults that persecute children for being children. However, all human beings, by default, are marked for deletion, until they surrender to God through Jesus Christ.

True Christian love is not borne out of self-esteem or praise, but out of conviction. Christian love is denoted in the New Testament by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao) and refers to prioritizing your neighbor first, and yourself last. Love is not just a feeling or an action, but a state of being where everyone else comes first in terms of needs, and you come last. This love for others comes from a form of conviction where you come to the knowledge that you are a depraved and wicked human being deserving of absolutely nothing, leading to the believe that everyone else is deserving of good things from you that they need. There is no room for self-esteem in Christian love for your neighbor, or for God.

Self-esteem is not just feeling good about yourself as a gentle parent. It is feeling good about yourself to the point of putting yourself first, and encouraging your child to do the same. Children shouldn't literally hate themselves, but they shouldn't think that they are the center of the world either. Children naturally are self-centered, meaning it is a developmental stage for a child to see themselves as the center of the world, but they also naturally feel good about themselves if they are raised in an attached parenting environment. There is no need to teach "self-esteem skills" to children. Children naturally know how to find ways to praise themselves for doing a good job. There is no reason to constantly say "good job" to children. Just provide the necessary closeness and warmth, and the rest takes care of itself.

The key to teaching children humility and pro-social self-loathing is to model it to them. Children naturally go the way of their parents, including when that way is love. Christian love is putting yourself last, and so the key as an attached parent is to put yourself last, and put everyone else around you first, and put your children first even more. Children don't observe good works, but instead observe the attitude behind good works, seeking to emulate it. A child who grows up around humble and understated adults grows up to become a humble and understated adult. There is no need to praise them all of the time and pump them up with self-esteem, like many parents on the political and social left do.

Self-esteem, as a concept, is only relevant to those whom were downright shamed as children, and actually hate themselves due to their trauma. That is why we have a left. Pro-social self-loathing is simply strong humility and understatement that is ship-shaped by the fire and brimstone of the Lord, leaving a charred countenance. Most of us at abuse survivors have a proud trauma that is "warm and cold" in nature, even those of us victims who don't recognize our own survivorship. Most of our abusive parents followed the law, entirely, and praised us as they punished us nonetheless. My parents used their glorified title as an excuse.

Self-esteem is one of the main issues dividing this nation. The left wants people to feel good just for existing, in a way that puts yourself first, which is the very definition of self-esteem. The right, meaning the rest of the country, still holds the belief that mankind is not good in nature, and is born in sin, and needs to atone for that sin nature. America is a Christian nation, and thus self-esteem should not be the relevant narrative - original sin should be the relevant narrative. Even as a child advocate, I oppose the concept of self-esteem as a stated concept, meaning there is no reason to make it relevant in parenting. Just be a good parent, and your children won't hate themselves. There is no reason to make self-esteem relevant even in gentle parenting. Ultimately, self-esteem rhetoric comes from a small yet vocal group of people who project their traumas onto the whole population, when only some people need to feel good about themselves. Most trauma comes from a lawful source, which is usually a proud source.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke children to anger will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them be casr forever in to the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the abyss which is the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Parent anger: Why not to get angry at your child

Many parents think that they are deserving of things from children. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. Most American parent...
