How to teach Judeo-Christian family values to children - without spanking or punishment

Many parents oppose positive alternatives to spanking and punishment. The most common reason for this opposition to anti-spanking parenting is the fear of losing one's religion. For many years, the anti-spanking/children's rights movement has been infiltrated by anti-religious forces, hence the debut of the modern-day political left. I myself support good Judeo-Christian family values, yet also support the rights of the child, including their right to equal protection of the laws in terms of domestic violence.

The Greek root word denoting entitlement in the New Testament, cross-referencing the Tenth Commandment, is πλεονέκτης (Latin: pleonektés) and refers to, officially speaking, want, to the point of imposition. Unofficially speaking, this Greek word refers to any want, period. It is good not to want anything in life, but we all want things in life, so ask politely. Ask, and you shall receive. Demand, and you get nothing. Even in the case of parental entitlement. If any thing that you want would lead to a temper tantrum upon a denial of privileges, don't want it, and avoid that want at all costs. Parental entitlement is wanting things from children, to the point of imposition, including entitled demands for respect and obedience.

On the other hand, Christian love, in the New Testament, is denoted by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao) and refers to prioritizing your neighbor above yourself, in a convicted way, leading to dutiful and selfless submission to your neighbor, including your child. Love is not just an emotion or action, but a state of being where you place the needs of everyone else above your own, in complete and total submission to all mankind, and to God, serving and obeying your neighbor and God above oneself. This comes from a place of conviction, where you come to the knowledge that you are a worthless sinner deserving of nothing, leading to the knowledge that others deserve everything, with you deserving nothing, including nothing in return for your good works. Christian love is a good example to impart to children, including by loving them.

A good example needs to be backed up by something. Attachment parenting is the oldest, most time-honored remedy out there for a crying child, and was the parenting of the ancients in biblical times. See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and grace of parents. Children are to rest securely in the sacrifice of parents, just as parent believers rest in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Parents are to ensure that children have a warm and loving upbringing, winning over their affection and respect instead of demanding it. When attachment parenting strategies are used, children want to listen to parents, and do so automatically, out of pure instinct. True biblical obedience to parents is a concept, and a very real one (especially for older children/teens and young adults), but is not based on fear of punishment from a parent, but instead primal instinct to go along with mothers especially, wherever they go. This respect for parents can be translated to obedience to other higher points of authority by way of encouragement.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to damages or offenses, namely the slightest of personal offense perceived by the child, including, but not limited to, the slightest of offensive touch or speech perceived by the child, coming from entitlement. This commandment was intended by the Apostle Paul, and understood in its original context, as a moral statute prohibiting all forms of punitive parenting, including any punishment or controlling demeanor. In the Old Testament, punitive parents were put to death by way of bloodletting, after punishing their children too many times, and receiving many warnings that their parenting habits were in violation of the Law. Parents who punished their children were charged with kidnapping, with "kidnapping" being defined under the Law as the slightest of damage or offense stemming from hostage-taking - child punishment was seen then as holding your child hostage merely for things they did wrong. Paul was lifting up the Law for a group of Greek Christians who brought their pagan custom of spanking and punishing children into the church. No such parenting custom existed among the Early Christians, who used attachment parenting to back up a good example.

Children learn by observing a parent or other cherished adult's example. Children learn how to instinctively follow in the footsteps of their parents and elders by way of attachment parenting strategies, as practiced in biblical times. Children in biblical times, when they cried, were not punished for their cries and upsets, but instead were held close to the bare bosom of the mother, in skin-to-skin closeness and intimacy. Children never wore any clothing until they became an adult, and mothers only wore clothing outside the home. Children who were crying and upset co-snuggled with mothers, with mothers engaging in mammary closeness with their children, and with children soaking up the rays of mammary closeness. Respect for parents was a real concept in biblical times, but was based off of closeness and not fear of punishment. Children were close to parents, and thus heeded the example of parents. Children never left the side of mothers until age 6, and even when children left the side of mothers, they stayed within the line of sight of parents.

Attachment parenting can be used to impart any values system, as attachment parenting merely backs up the example of the parents' values. These values include Judeo-Christian family values, which are based on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christ died on the cross not only for our sins, but in order to create Western civilization as we know it today. God chose Israel, and spread the values of that nation around the world, with those values being spread with the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Those great values, taught time and time again over many centuries, can be taught without spanking or punishment

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke their children to anger will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them be forever cast into the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the abyss which is the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
