The attachment parenting traditions of the Bible

America is a Christian nation, founded on Judeo-Christian family values. The main legal document we obtain wisdom from as a nation is the Bible. Many adults hold that document to be a pro-spanking document. However, this is a huge misunderstanding of Scripture. The Bible is an anti-spanking, pro-attachment parenting document, as biblical culture was attachment parenting culture.

Every single parent and adult is guilty in relation to children, and is deserving of DEATH and DESTRUCTION merely for existing in relation to children, with parents/adults being meek and shamefaced in relation to children, being shut up in the Lord for their depraved and entitled adult sin nature. Parents especially are to esteem their child above all else, putting children first, and parents last, leading to dutiful and selfless submission and service to children and their every vulnerable need, expecting absolutely nothing in return from children or others, with children resting safely and securely in parents. See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and grace of parents. This means restful surrender in the loving arms of parents. This is a safe, secure form of respect where children can tell parents anything and everything under the sun, expecting absolutely no punishment or reprisal for being honest. Children could tell parents anything, and even tell them off or order them around to get what they wanted/needed. Children felt so safe around parents that they were completely naked wherever they went, but in the close and careful supervision of parents wherever they went as well.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to damages or abuse, meaning the slightest of personal offense perceived by the child, including the slightest of offensive touch or speech perceived by the child, which includes striking or punishing a child for any reason, as well as any entitlement towards children, meaning want to the point of imposition perceived by a child. The Apostle Paul here was lifting up the Law on punishing children, with the penalties being very severe, meaning child abuse offenders who merely even punished their children were deemed guilty of kidnapping/grand theft, and condemned to death, either by bloodletting or chenek (Ancient Israel), or excommunication (Early Christian context). The seven verses in the book of Proverbs depicting the rod are repealed verses, meaning they only apply to the context it was given to, as the punishments depicted reference a dated form of judicial corporal punishment - the 40 minus 1 lashes with the rod of correction, intended as a final warning before being put to death. Children couldn't be whipped as a whipping required a criminal trial, and children could not stand trial for offenses they committed. Whippings were for ADULT children, not minor children.

Attachment parenting was the norm in biblical times, and mothers and fathers served different roles. Mothers served the role of giving nourishment and sustenance, meaning breastfeeding and skin-to-skin closeness and intimacy with children respectively. Fathers simply were friends with children on an equal level, with the equality motivated by subtle connotational attraction to children. Children went naked wherever they went, and this lowered the level of attachment for both fathers and mothers down to equal level. Fathers were like a human ragdoll around children, with children dragging fathers everywhere, showing fathers things they want shown, pointing to objects of interest.

Children were allowed to play freely, but with play always being supervised closely and cautiously by parents and other extended family. Play was high-risk by today's standard, with most games carrying sexual undertones, especially "marriage". Christian marriage in the Bible is defined by sexual contact and intercourse as a marital contract. Most children simply embraced to pretend-play simulate a marriage, but if a boy showed intent to penetrate a girl, the two were separated, and the boy was instructed on proper chastity around girls, and how to treat girls with respect. If he didn't get the message, the two remained separate, the sternest consequence a good Hebrew or Christian parent would mete out.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke their children to anger will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them burn in the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
