Parental entitlement: Why a child owes parents nothing

Many parents think that children owe them things just for being parents. This is a common belief among Christian parents in particular. The old doctrine is that parental entitlement is not really entitlement, even if it is, because we all have it. Or something like that. Parental entitlement is a real entitlement problem facing this nation.

The Greek root word cross-referencing the Tenth Commandment, and denotes entitlement in the New Testament is πλεονέκτης (Latin: pleonektés) and refers to parental entitlement, meaning officially wanting things from or of children to the point of imposition, or enough to seek out the first steps in sexually assaulting or raping a child in the case of adult sexual entitlement. Unofficially, parental entitlement refers to wanting anything from a child. It is not good to want things from children, but don't we all as depraved and entitled adults? Ask, and you shall receive, if your child's development will allow it. Demand, and you get nothing but resentment from children. Entitlement can lead to offense, with offense being child abuse. See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to damages or abuse, namely child abuse. This means the slightest of personal offense perceived by the child, including the slightest of offensive touch or speech, coming from entitlement. The Apostle Paul here was lifting up the Law on punishing children, with all punishment and controlling demeanor towards children carrying severe penalties, including death in the Old Testament by way of bloodletting (hanging up parents like poultry). Punitive parents were excommunicated in the Early Church. The seven verses in Proverbs that refer to the rod refer not to spanking or other punishment of MINOR children, but the 40 minus 1 lashes administered to ADULT children, as a final warning before putting said offender to death. Such passages are repealed passages, meaning they only apply to the historical context in which they were given to. Minor children could not stand trial due to youthful inexperience, thus they could not be charged with criminal acts or civil wrongs. Thus, the whipping of minor children was, in fact, illegal under the Law of Moses.

Children are to be treated with Christian love, as denoted by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao). What is Christian love? Putting children first, and parents last, to the point of dutiful and selfless submission to children and their every need, expecting absolutely nothing in return, with children resting safely and securely in parents. This rest is denoted by the English verb "obey" and the corresponding Greek root word υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest in the love and grace of parents. This means that children can tell parents anything and everything under the sun, including confessions of wrongful acts or marginalized traits, expecting no punishment or reprisal in return. Children have the right to order their parents around, and demand things from their parents, using parents as tools or vehicles for their own needs. Parents are to be selfless and shamefaced in how they parent, putting their children first, and them last, and children are to be allowed to use that parental selflessness for their own advantage. Children owe nothing to parents, meaning parents give to children without receiving. However, parents usually receive respect in the form of following a parent's example in return for their good works for their children. Parents give without expecting anything in return, but oftentimes earn their respect anyway, meaning more often than not.

Parental entitlement can be seen as a thread inside an encasement. The thread is ruled by the encasement, and the encasement directs how parental entitlement can be expressed towards a child. The key is to know that the whole parental entitlement system is a flawed part of our anatomy enough to know not to exert the entitlement on children, at all, for any reason. Parental entitlement is the thread coming out of a parent that is used to control a child or force a parent's will on a child. The thread itself can motivate good parenting, in which case it isn't parental entitlement - it just needs to be kept tucked in, and not ever left out of its barn door.

Parental entitlement can be fought against simply by stifling parent anger and/or attraction. The idea is to remind yourself that you are not entitled to anything from a child, and then stifle all worldly urges towards children with that attitude. Do the opposite of what your worldly urges to punish, control, or unlawfully bond with children tell you to do, and channel all sexual desire elsewhere - a private room, away from the child, with the shades down. If done right, you should lose your entitled want to speak, being shut up in the Lord.

A child owes me nothing, and I owe them everything I have to offer. I am a depraved and entitled adult in relation to children, deserving of nothing from children, grateful for all the trust children give me undeservingly. I am a sinful adult merely for existing in relation to children, as I do not deserve that grace they give me.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke children to anger will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them burn in the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the abyss which is the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
