The doctrine of original sin is one of the most widely misunderstood and misused teachings in the Christian faith. No group of people should be singled out for their sin nature, as we all as human beings are fallen animals. Especially us as adults in relation to children.
Every single adult, including parents, are depraved and entitled beings deserving of DEATH and PUNISHMENT merely for existing in relation to children, and are to be struck with reverent terror and fear for their child, then convicted to be of bondservice to the child's every vulnerable need, engaging in good works that benefit the child, just for the sake of doing good works and caring for your neighbor, expecting absolutely nothing in return, which is Christian love denoted by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao). I myself was born in original sin as a depraved and entitled adult in relation to children convicted of his original sin.
The Greek root word denoting entitlement is πλεονέκτης (Latin: pleonektés) and refers to parental entitlement, the core of our sin nature, which is wanting things from children or of children to the point of seeking to impose said want onto a child, leading to offense perceived by the child. This word, in full, refers to wanting anything from a child. We will always want something from children, but the idea is to gauge your want towards children, work against it with your actions, and deplete the want towards children. It is not good to want anything from a child, but since we all do as adults, want as little as possible from them, and don't impose it. I want nothing from a child, even if I really want what I do want, which is a nice wedding and the consummation afterwards. But, that's never going to happen, so focus on real life and keep that as an afterthought.
Parents have a depraved and entitled nature that is to be struck into mutual submission with their child. It says in Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:
Children, obey your parents in all things: as this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they become discouraged.
Parents in biblical times knew they had a sin nature in relation to their children, and made amends as their child's enemy, with the child being seen as the "least of these" and an extension of God in the family home. The Greek root word translated υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to respect for parents, which means closeness to parents, leading to fondness and admiration for parents. Closeness came from the sacrifice from parents, in the spirit that Christ sacrificed for His children, the elect. Children in ancient Judeo-Christian society were intensely close to their parents, with mothers co-sleeping next to children in the nude, in skin-to-skin closeness. Children up until age 3 were treated as infants, and were breastfed as such. Children weren't the enemy then - adults were the enemy of children, meaning adults have wronged and abused children merely for existing, and so adults paid tribute to the "least of these" by surrendering to them as their enemy, seeking to be their friend, with children resting in the convicted providence and leadership of parents, not fearing any punishment or reprisal.
The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers literally to "stirring up" upset and resentment in children, referring to the Jewish idiom of "stirring the pot". This refers to offenses against children, meaning the slightest of personal offense perceived by the child. This includes corporal punishment and other forms of punishment and control. Paul recommended a different approach, namely attachment parenting based heavily on exemplary instruction, imparting the Living Example of Christ as a role model. But, since only Christ was perfect, the Living Example of Christ should focus on being convicted of one's sin nature as a parent, knowing that oneself as a parent is the enemy of their child for being a part of a group of people - adults - that have wronged and abused children since time immemorial.
God hates the sin nature of parents, which is to control, either with physical force or sexual force. Adults have turned their backs on the needs and benign wants of children, and thus have offended God, for whatever offends the child offends God (Matt. 25:31-46), for children are an extension of God, for being so vulnerable and unempowered. Every single parent and adult is deserving of punishment and destruction for wronging and abusing children with their mere existence throughout history.
Children have a sin nature, as well, but they aren't aware of its fortitude. Sin is imperfection, and no human being is perfect, but some deserve excuse for their sin nature, because they don't know any better. Children can be assumed not to know any better, and thus live under the grace of parents. Some older children do know better, but knowing better and doing better are two different things, and though children improve, they make mistakes due to impulsivity. Christ died so that we as Americans could accept and excuse our childhood mistakes, just as He does. "Mistake" means sin, as nobody on this earth was without sin, meaning perfect, but Christ.
The depraved and entitled pro-spanking parents who provoke children to anger will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Parents and other adults are the ENEMY of children, and are to make amends with the one we wronged and abused, being their friend and confidant, making peace with our enemy. Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
