Reverent rebellion: The proper power imbalance in parenting

American parenting values obedience in parenting, with controlling measures being used to "keep them in line". Parents are seen as authority figures to children today, whereas they are not according to the Bible.
Parents are not extensions of God, but servants of God.

The Fifth Commandment prescribes mutual submission in parenting, starting with parents, and then leading to that of children, in the Lord and not of a parent's making. It says in Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:
Children, obey your children in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they become discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to providing custody, meaning secure, vulnerable rest and trust in the love and grace of parents, being allowed to rebel against parents righteously, demanding needs and benign wants, with parents supplying and providing for the child's every need and benign want, including attachment needs, with children owing nothing in return to parents, and with parents deserving nothing in return to children, but nonetheless with children showing gratitude and thanksgiving for the care and support they receive from parents by emulating their example and instructions, in the Lord spontaneously and not out of fear of punishment, wanting to please one's father and mother in the Lord. The Greek root word translated ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and literally translates to "stirring up" anger and upset in children, referring to the Jewish idiom of "stirring the pot" and refers literally literally to the offenses in the Bible, meaning the torts and damages under the Eighth Commandment, meaning the slightest of offense perceived by the child, coming from parental entitlement. Parental entitlement is the number one cause of child abuse, as denoted by the Greek root word πλεονεκτης (Latin: pleonektés) and refers to wanting things from children to the point of seeking to impose said want onto children. leading to an offense, meaning abuse.

In the biblical context, children were expected to rebel, and did so from day one. Mothers then took the brunt of their child's upset, with children playing their way or no way at all, demanding their needs to their parents, namely mothers, with mothers serving as a ragdoll and punching bag, swaddling infants to their bosom until age 3, breastfeeding them up until then or perhaps quite a bit afterwards. Children played in close range to their mothers, with children never leaving her line of sight, feeling safe in the presence of parents, enough to tell parents off when needed, with parents respecting children more for it.

The depraved and entitled parents who stifle the reverent rebellion of children rebel against God, period. They will forever be cast into the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death, which is Satan's final resting place! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is hand!
