The teaching of original sin is the most misunderstood of Christian teachings, and the most misused of Christian teachings as well. Most people do not understand the teaching of original sin as it pertains to parenting, meaning the child is not blamed - the parent/adult is.
Every single adult is guilty in relation to children, with adults hopefully being convicted of their sin nature by way of reverent fear and terror, leading to surrender to God through one's children, being fully and dutifully subject to children and their every need as their enemy, seeking to be their friend, just as mankind is the enemy of God, with parents and adults paying due penance to children just as to God, with children being an extension of God to strike terror into parents with their every petition for needs and a redress of grievances. This is Christian love, as denoted by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao)
The Tenth Commandment prohibits coveting, which is driven by entitlement. Parental entitlement is denoted by the Greek root word denoting all entitlement, which is πλεονέκτης (Latin: pleonektés) and literally refers to the wanting things from a children, or wanting them to do things for you, to the point of seeking to impose said want onto children, leading to child abuse by way of offense perceived.
The word πλεονέκτης refers implicitly to man's wicked and depraved sin nature. It is in the depraved and entitled sin nature of adults to want things from children. We all have wanted things from children, perhaps things they won't give us readily, right? Seeking to force your hand is deadly entitlement, but all urges to control a child come from a place of entitlement, meaning original sin, because isn't the nature of all us adults to want things from children? See Colossians 3:20-21 KJV for God's commandment for non-entitled Christian parenting:
Children, obey your parents in all things, as is well-pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they become discouraged.
The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest and trust, with children being able to demand anything from parents, with parents supplying the every need of children, with children being able to confide in parents, with children owing absolutely nothing in return to parents, and parents deserving of nothing in return from children. The Greek word υπακουο ultimately refers to a specific parenting context that was customary under Jewish law and Christian ordinances, and involved attachment parenting, meaning here parent-child, namely mother-child intimacy to the level of nudity, meaning skin-to-skin contact in a way that soothed children, with infants up to age 3 or even older being swaddled to the bosom of their mothers, with mothers breastfeeding up until those ages. Child nudity was legal under the Law everywhere, and that was to ensure that mothers could be as close to their children as possible, usually while holding them or co-sleeping next to them. The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and literally translates to "stirring up" anger, resentment, and other forms of upset in children, as in the Jewish adage of "stirring the pot", meaning don't stir the pot in terms of your child's emotional welfare, and this was intended to include spanking and corporal punishment, as that was what Paul was issuing a command from God against. Parenting in Hellenistic and Roman homes relied heavily on corporal punishment and other punitive measures, so what Paul did was attach a secular pamphlet detailing the attachment parenting customary to ancient Jewish culture, with Christianity being an extension of Judaism. The secular pamphlets stated that parents should martyr themselves for their children like Christ did for His children, sacrificing like Christ did for His children, and taking up the cross like Christ did for His children. Pedophilia and other attraction to children was also dealt with, and the advice was that fathers especially pro-social channel their desires away from children, into a box of sorts, and afterwards be able to interact with the real child, or else marry her off early (1 Cor. 7:36).
A sin nature is a parent or adult is to want things by way of your own drives and nature, meaning it is the nature of man to want thing from his fellow man, and the nature of adult to want things from children. We can't always get what we want from children, but we can ask, and be trustworthy enough for children to want to listen to us. But, the moment you seek to abuse a child, it is as if you have already, so cease fire and turn away from sin and abuse.
The depraved and entitled parents who provoke children to anger using their sin nature will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them burn and rot in the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
