Pro-social mirror - How a child's rebellion reflects that of the parents' (towards them)

Many parents abuse their children, with 94% of parents using physical battery to control their children as a form of domestic violence against children. Also, 70% of adults support "a good, hard spanking" for at least some children.

Mirroring is something usually attributed to children with autism, which is why most autism parents don't punish these days, or else punish out of haste and not ideology. All children have at least some capacity to mirror their parents back to them, and usually their vices. Parents just don't pay attention usually. The Apostle Paul spoke about the mirroring capacities of children in Colossians 3:20-21 KJV:

Children, obey your parents in all things, as is well-pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "obey" is υπακουο (Latin: hupakouo) and refers to secure, vulnerable rest and attachment to parents, being able to be oneself in relation to children, confiding to them on everything, trusting parents in everything, owing nothing in return to them, yet showing gratitude by listening to parents, and heeding their instruction, out of vulnerable trust and not fear. Pro-social payback, only it isn't a duty, but just happens when parents are respectful to children. This compliance manifests itself down to the voice level, where you just light up when you hear your parent's voice, and feel safe all of the sudden - a familiar voice being your advocate. This is a result of Christian love for one's child, denoted by the Greek root word αγαπαο (Latin: agapao), meaning dutiful, selfless submission to children as their enemy, seeking to be their friend, sacrificing for children just as Christ sacrificed for His children, rendering oneself beneath one's child, devaluing oneself as said child's servant, ministering to and serving said child, expecting absolutely nothing in return.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to one of the Greek words in the New Testament that reference the offenses under the Mosaic Law, meaning torts and damages, including assault and battery laws extended to protect children. In the New Testament, this is summed up as the slightest of personal slights perceived by the child, such as through fear of punishment from an adult, stemming from entitlement.

The Apostle Paul, here, was warning fathers at the Christian church as Colossae that physical and mental punishments of any kind are a violation of Jewish law, and the passage would be understood as stating that the rebellious behavior of children is a reflection of disrespect from parents. Greco-Roman parenting then relied heavily on physical punishment, whereas Hebrew parents were traditionally attachment parents, with the Christ child Himself documented as wearing swaddling clothes (Luke 7:2). Such was the norm throughout Jewish culture then, and the reason for it was the same reason many pediatricians and psychologists today recommend skin-to-skin contact - a closer bond later on, with that bond leading to gratitude in the parent for the child reflected in the child's behavior. The idea is to treat a child exactly as you want them to treat you when they are older. Would you like them to slap you across the face? Then don't do it to them. Paul was bringing up the offenses with a few Greek Christian fathers who were using corporal punishment on children, assuming the idolatrous Roman concept of patrias potestas meaning the wife and children are property of the man of the house, with boys being whipped and adolescent girls being spanked for "unchaste" behavior.

The depraved and entitled parents will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Corporal punishment shall not exist anywhere within the several states, territories, and commonwealths that make up the United States of America, and when a parent or other adult identifies by it and defends the act, they shall not exist, but since murder is wrong, they shall only exist within the confines of a prison cell. Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
