The word "no": Why children need to hear the word "no" seldom (meaning almost never)

Many parents think that they have the "right" to tell a child "no" whenever they see fit. This is a common attitude amongst American parents. Most American parents say "no" all of the time. However, God's Law commands parents not only to avoid spanking and punishment, but instead to avoid offending their child. This offense can come from the word "no". 

God's Law states in Colossians 3:21 KJV:

Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to offenses or damages, namely the slightest of personal offense perceived by a child, including, but not limited to, the slightest of offensive touch or speech perceived by a child, stemming from entitlement. It is not enough to avoid spanking or punishing children - you have to avoid offending your child in the slightest, including by the frequent use of the word "no". The only way to avoid offense perceived by your child is to given a meaningful apology whenever you offend your child. Child abuse, like all abuse, happens when a child is offended by the entitlement of parents.

One way to offend a child is to tell them "no". Whenever Christian parents in the Early Church had to say "no", they apologized by reassuring children of their good intentions, and also explaining why they told their child "no". Under customary law, the word "no" was only allowed when the child wanted something unsafe, unworkable, and/or immoral. Even then, parents usually found a nicer-sounding way to decline a request, namely "that can't happen", "that isn't possible", or "that won't work". 

The word "no" is oftentimes used when the parent is angry with their child, meaning the parent feels annoyed by the child's constant requests. The word "no" should never be used out of anger. A parent should instead say "no" out of worry or concern.

The depraved and entitled parents who provoke their children to anger through punitive parenting will not inherit the Kingdom of God! Let them be cast forever into the lake of fire and burning sulfur, which is the second death prepared for Satan and his accomplices! Let them descend into the abyss which is the ever-burning Hell of fire and torment, suffering God's Wrath day and night forever and ever! Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
