ANNOUNCEMENT: Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all dads out there, particularly the good kind that don't boast or brag about their good will and works towards their children, loving their children unconditionally. My father learned to be that way, and not the identified parent that he presented growing up.

There is no need to love an identified father, or any parent that never loved you first, and never apologized for it. I am grateful that my father did turn himself around. A lot of parents do not.

This holiday is a church holiday marking the Fifth Commandment, which in practice is written to fathers themselves in this context, meaning treat your child with respect. An accompanying commandment written literally, literally, to fathers is Colossians 3:21 KJV:

Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they become discouraged.

The Greek root word translated "provoke...to anger" is ερεθιζο (Latin: erethizo) and refers to offenses imposed on children, namely the slightest of personal slights perceived by the child. This refers to any punishment or control of a child.

Fathers, like mothers, do deserve recognition, but only when not abusive towards children, meaning that's how the flow goes in homes anyway...So, fathers, respect and love your child, and then you will be rewarded with the same from your children.
